After downloading WhatsApp for desktop, install the program on your computer. Then follow the steps below:
To use the WhatsApp desktop app, a constant connection to your iPhone is required, just like the web version of WhatsApp. So make sure your iPhone has a working internet connection. To save data, a constant Wi-Fi connection is best.
WhatsApp on Mac and PC seems instantly recognizable. On the left you will find the full description of the chat, while on the right you will find the selected conversation. You don’t need to keep WhatsApp in the foreground all the time, because the app works in the background too. You can simply click WhatsApp on Mac via the red cross. Push messages keep you informed of new messages.
You will also find almost all the options that you will also find in WhatsApp on your smartphone: you can send images, take photos and exchange documents. This works like this:
Before submitting the image, you can add a caption or add additional images.
Next to the input field in chats you will find a microphone. With this you can create and send voice messages. This works as follows:
All other standard WhatsApp features are also available. For example, you can view individual information for each message by clicking the arrow next to the message. Here you can see when a message has been delivered and read. You will also find several options in the chats. If you click the arrow next to each chat in the chat overview, you can archive, delete, mute, or mark the chats as unread there.
Finally, it is also possible to adjust your information block yourself by clicking on your own photo. You can also change your profile picture and name here.
WhatsApp on Mac and WhatsApp on Windows also works with WhatsApp Status. With WhatsApp Status you share a photo with all your WhatsApp contacts, which then remains visible for 24 hours. It is not possible to create a WhatsApp status on the desktop, but you can see the status messages already sent. To do this, click on the Status icon in the upper left (next to your profile picture), which can be recognized by the broken circle.
Finally, there are still some settings to change for the WhatsApp desktop app . To do this, open WhatsApp and click WhatsApp> Preferences at the top left of the menu bar. On the screen that appears, you can adjust notifications, turn off sounds, and turn the preview display on or off. The notifications you receive appear in the Notification Center on Mac. Notifications are also interactive, so you can immediately reply to an incoming message.
Other options in the settings are choosing a chat background, managing your blocked contacts, and viewing their version number.
